Based on a true story, The White Rose: A One Act Play follows a group of University of Munich students who form a resistance during World War II to speak against Adolf Hitler and National Socialism. Siblings Hans and Sophie Scholl are caught on the balcony of the university atrium from where resistance leaflets were thrown. Through a series of flashback and interrogation scenes, the courageous story of The White Rose unfolds, as Hans and Sophie find they must confess sole responsibility in an attempt to save the others.
Written as an approximately one hour piece in twenty-four scenes of varying length, the tempo of The White Rose: A One Act Play is designed to pick up in momentum as it approaches its dramatic conclusion, keeping the audience engaged and captive throughout.
Cast: 13 characters; 4 to 6 female, 7 to 9 male. Cast size can be flexible with multiple narrators, SS guards, and extras. One production had a cast size of 36.
